When is the Hong Kong International Airport ‧ Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon: Three-Runway System 10km International Race?

The event will be held on 17 November 2024, Sunday.

Registration Procedures

Can I apply for more than one entry?

No, all runners must provide a valid email address during registration. Each email address, HKID, or Passport number can only be used for registration once.

In the event that a participant is unsuccessful in securing Priority Entry, they are permitted to submit one additional registration for the Public Ballot. Any duplicate registrations will be rejected or canceled by the Organiser without prior notice. Entry fees will not be refunded, and redemption of the Runner’s Pack will not be entertained.

May I choose / change my start time and race category?

No, participants of the Priority Entry will be assigned to race in the Challenge race and participants of the Women’s Elite will be assigned to the Women’s Elite race while the start times of Public Ballot participants will be determined by the Organiser. Once assigned, all start times cannot be changed.

Participants successfully registered for the 5km race will be assigned to compete in the Challenge race.

How can I confirm that my registration has been successfully submitted?

Upon successful submission of your registration, an Application Acknowledgement Email will be sent to the registered email address.

If you do not receive any emails or encounter system errors, please contact the Registration and Runners’ Communications Office at (852) 2122 9120 for assistance.

What should I do if I cannot login to my Runner Dashboard after registration?

If you are unable to log in to your Runner Dashboard after registration, please contact the Registration and Runners’ Communications Office at (852) 2122 9120 or email [email protected] for verification of registered personal particulars.

Am I required to upload my HKID / passport with photos for online registration?

No. However, all participants must present the original copy of their registered HKID / Travel Document for identity verification during Runner’s Pack Collection and on the Race Day.

For participants aged 17 or below, his / her original HKID / Travel Document with photo is required.

Registration and Acceptance (Priority Entry)

What is Priority Entry?

Priority Entry is designed to streamline the registration process for runners who have achieved qualifying times (Net Time) in specified races during a particular period. In an effort to elevate the race standards, in addition to results from their own races, the Organiser recognises achievements from events sanctioned by World Athletics (WA) / Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

Registrants are required to submit their results at the time of application. Failure to do so will render the application incomplete and it will not be processed further.

Priority Entry is exclusively for the 10km race, with registrants in this category eligible only for the 10km Challenge Race. If registrants wish to participate in a non-Challenge race or other race distances, they must apply through the Public Ballot.

Are all runners eligible for Challenge Race via Priority Entry?

No, if the number of eligible entries for the Priority Entry exceeds the quota for the corresponding Challenge Race after registration closes, the Organiser will determine the acceptance list by ranking the registrants according to the application ratio of gender and their submitted results and accepting those with better result.

An unsuccessful registrant can consider submitting another entry via Public Ballot from 23 September 2024 (Monday) 2pm to 27 September 2024 (Friday) 7pm.

Is there any waiting list for Priority Entry?

No.

Are women runner in 10km Challenge eligible to compete for the Overall Prize Money (Overall Position) and the Special Incentive Award?

No. Only runners in Women’s Elite race are eligible to to compete for the Overall Prize Money (Overall Position) and the Special Incentive Award (for Hong Kong Permanent Residents only).

Registration and Acceptance (Public Ballot)

If I miss the payment deadline of the first-round Public Ballot, will I automatically be entered into the second-round Public Ballot?

No, if registrants miss the payment deadline of the entry, they will be considered forfeiting their entry.

Entry Fees

What are the available payment solutions?

The Organiser accepts online payment only. Participants may make the online payment with the following methods:

  • Master Card
  • Visa Card
  • UnionPay
  • Alipay
  • WeChat Pay

How to define Local and Non-local Participants?

The definitions of Local Participants and Non-local Participants are as follows:

Local Participant: A holder of a valid Hong Kong Identity Card and local telephone number;

Non-local Participant: Any person who does not qualify as a Local Participant

What do I do if I cannot participate after I have registered?

An applicant can only withdraw and request for a refund due to medical reasons. Such request for refund must be made in writing (via email to [email protected]) on or before 16 November 2024 (Saturday) to Registration and Runners’ Communication Office, along with relevant medical documents issued by a medical practitioner (registered with The Medical Council of Hong Kong or Overseas Governmental medical authorities). An administration charge of HKD 100 will be deducted from each refund.

Please note that both number bib and timing chip are non-transferable. You must NOT transfer your number bib and the timing chip to another person and participate in the race, or both persons will be disqualified, and no result will be provided.

Wheelchair Race Arrangement

Can I deposit my manual wheelchair along with my baggage?

Yes, you may deposit one baggage and one spare wheelchair on race day. You may collect both at the Baggage Collection area after the race.

What should I do if my wheelchair is damaged during the race?

If the damage is mild, please stay on one side of the course and fix the wheelchair before resuming the race. If the damage is too severe that you are unable to continue, please seek help from Race Officials, and declare your intention to withdraw from the race. The Race Officials will then assist you to board the official bus which will take you to the Finish Area. Your number bib will be marked by the Race Official after boarding the bus.

Runner’s Pack Collection

Participants must present the original registered identification document (i.e., HKID / Travel Document) to the official for identity verification. If discrepancies are found between the presented identification document and the personal information on the bib, or if the presented identification document or bib does not belong to the participant, the Organiser will revoke participants’ right to collect the Runner’s Pack (including Number Bib).

What should I bring to collect the Runner’s Pack?

After making reservation, you can collect your Runner’s Pack at your reserved time slot with the following items:

  • Confirmation email of the Runner’s Pack collection online reservation (“reservation confirmation”)
  • Runner’s Pack Collection Email (with QR code embedded)
  • The original registered identification document (i.e., HKID / Travel Document) (for participants aged 17 or below, his / her original HKID / Travel Document with photo is required)

Do I need to collect my Runner’s Pack within the scheduled date and time slot that I have reserved?

Yes, to minimise congestion and reduce wait times, it is recommended that runners adhere to their scheduled Runner’s Pack collection date and time.

If the personal particulars printed on the number bib do not match my registered identification document, what should I do?

You should seek assistance from the officials at the Enquiry Counter immediately.

In response to the requirements from the Aviation Security Company Limited, if any discrepancies are found between a participant’s identification document and the personal particulars on the Number Bib when collecting the Runner’s Pack, the Organiser is required to recheck the updated personal information with the Aviation Security Company Limited. Runners will only be allowed to pick up their Runner’s Pack, including number bib with timing chip, after the updated data is approved with the issuance of the Special Visitor Pass by Aviation Security Company Limited.

Due to the required processing time and to avoid delay in the runner’s schedule, runners must ensure that the submitted personal particulars match with their identification documents at the time of registration. Runners are advised to collect their Runner’s Packs as early as possible within the designated dates.

Could my friend collect the Runner’s Pack on my behalf?

No, all participants must pick up their Runner’s Pack in person and present their original registered identification document (i.e., HKID / Travel Document), for verification purposes.

Can I change my selected size of event T-shirt?

No, once a participant has settled the entry fee, s / he will not be allowed to change the selected T-shirt size.

If I did not receive or have misplaced my Runner’s Pack Collection Email, what can I do?

If you did not receive or have misplaced your Runner’s Pack Collection Email, you can log in to the Runner Dashboard on the official website to download the Collection Email.

Alternatively, you can present your HKID card or Travel Document at the Enquiry Counter on the day of Runner’s Pack Collection, to seek assistance from the officials.

Race Day

Participants must bring their original HKID / Travel Document (same document as used in the event registration) and number Bib (with timing chip) to the Assembly Venue (AsiaWorld-Expo). If a participant cannot present any of the below items, s / he will not be allowed to participate in the event.

Could I present a digital copy of my registered ID to the official, for identification verification, at the Assembly Venue?

No, if a participant cannot present his / her original ID registered, and valid number bib, with timing chip, at the Assembly venue, or if, any discrepancies are found between the ID and the personal particulars printed on the number bib, or a participant presents the ID or number bib belongs to the others, s / he will not be allowed to enter the race venue and thus forbidden to participate in the race. No entry fee will not be refunded.

If I am unable to arrive at the Assembly Venue before the entrance cut-off time of my designated start time, could I start at the next wave?

No, participants must arrive at the designated assembly point within the designated time period of each group. Latecomers will not be able to participate in the race and will be disqualified, and no entry fee will be refunded.

Can I transfer my number bib and timing chip to another runner if I cannot attend the race?

No, both the number bibs and timing chips are non-transferable.

In the event of any such irregularities, the participants concerned will be disqualified, and the Organiser reserves the right to reject their registrations for any future HKAAA events.

How could I get to the Starting Area?

Participants must take the official shuttle bus from the Assembly Venue (AsiaWorld-Expo) to the starting zone within the restricted area of the Hong Kong International Airport. Before boarding the shuttle, participants must undergo security checks and identity verification.

Baggage Deposit and Collection

The Organiser will offer complimentary baggage storage services for runners at the Assembly Venue. Runners are reminded not to deposit any valuable item. The Organiser will not be responsible for any loss or damage.

A comprehensive list of prohibited items for the Baggage Deposit Area and Race Area can be found in the Runner’s Guide (Event Handbook), which will be released on the official website in due course.

Can I use my own bag for baggage deposit? Will baggage bags & tags be provided on the Race Day?

No, participants are required to use the baggage bag and tag provided by the Organiser for baggage deposit. A properly tagged baggage bag must be deposited at the designated area within the specified timeframe indicated on the tag.

Participants are advised to download and review the “Runner’s Guide” (Event Handbook) from the event website before the race day.

The Organiser will not distribute any baggage bags or baggage tags on the Race Day.

Other Information

Do I need to buy my own insurance? Is the Race covered by any insurance?

Public Liability Insurance is covered by the Organiser. Participants are advised to take up their own personal or other insurance policies according to their needs separately.

All participants are urged to seek medical advice of their physical condition before participating in the Event. All participants must read and complete the “Health Conditions Form and Recommendations for Runners” before the registration and the race. Participants should also understand their physical condition may not be suitable for participating in the race.

All participants who have answered a “Yes” to any of the questions on the “Health Conditions Form and Recommendations for Runners” are strongly recommended to consult for medical advice by phone or in person. Such participants should only participate at the race if their doctor advises that their physical condition is fit participate without risk.

Is there any public viewing area for spectators / supporters?

No, the route course is located within a restricted zone. Only participants with valid wristband and event number bib will be allowed to enter the bus boarding area / route course.
